Student Bio: Emily Roarty

Emily Roarty is in her 5th year of the Architectural Engineering program at Penn State University. She will graduate in May 2017 with an Architectural Engineering degree with a concentration in construction. In addition in March of 2013, Emily traveled to Roatan, Honduras with an embedded Penn State course to learn about the design and installation of a solar panel on a daycare. In May of 2014, Emily studied abroad with the Sedi de Roma program and she earned a minor in Architectural Studies.

For four summers, she has interned with PJ Dick, a construction management company located in Pittsburgh which provides a wide range of construction services to the local area. In the summer of 2012, Emily interned at the Mt. Lebanon High School Renovation. Then in the summer of 2013, she interned on the Moore Building in State College on the closeout duties of the project. During May of 2015, Emily worked in the Estimating department doing quantity takeoffs. At last in May of 2016, she interned on the West Virginia Football Stadium Renovations and was responsible for the electrical rough in of concessions and bathrooms.  

Outside of her education and internships, Emily is involved as President of Westminster Presbyterian Fellowship (WPF). Emily helps to lead a group that provides fellowship and service to students. She coordinated the design and production of canvas tote bags for the club. She was an OPPerations Committee Member for Penn State Dance Marathon in 2015, and has participated through other organizations on campus. Emily enjoys playing tennis, learning about architectural history, and traveling in her leisure.
